Patron saint of grocers, mariners, soldiers, paratroopers, police officers, military personnel, first responders, the sick, and radiologists,
Feast Day September 29
Michael means "Who is like God?"
and is called "Prince of the Heavenly Host."
Michael is responsible for casting down Lucifer and the evil spirits into hell, and is invoked for protection against Satan and all evil that is inflicted on the church.
Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle,
be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil;
may God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
The rosary was made to symbolize St. Michael's armor.
