JS The Craftsman’s Apprentice: Refurbished Rocking Chair

This rocking chair was refurbished so that it could be passed down to another generation.  It needed some cleaning and minor repairs to make sure all the joints were tight. A nice brown, oil finish was my go-to. The oil brings out the natural grain and gives the wood a smooth to the touch finish. As it wears with contact and use, the finish can be easily touched-up if needed.  The biggest repair was the hand-woven cane seat.  You can tell how worn the old cane was and how the color changes with use. A small tear had started to show, and I didn’t want it to get any larger.  I was able to weave a brand new cane seat, which wouldn’t take value away but restore it for further use.  If you are in need of any custom woodwork, refinishing, or cane seat repair, you can reach out to me through the contact email or js.thecraftsman@gmail.com
